Giving consumers the chance to take away their virtual underwater experience

the brief

Sea Life wanted to start their consumers experience with a bang, giving them an immersive experience. Working in connection with Magic Memories they wanted to install photo tech that would give consumers a unique, on brand snap.

They wanted the capture to be on brand, as a way of welcoming consumers into the venue. noonah was asked to develop and install the photo tech for Sea Life’s photo capture.

the solution

Noonah created a supersize version of our selfie mirror (2.5m x 2.5m) for this install. Guests could see themselves and their whole group in the mirror as they took their snap. We were responsible for the whole custom build and so had to work hard on the structure and fitting to make sure everything was perfect for the install.

We created custom animated characters based on the figures used around the attractions, encouraging consumers to strike poses, e.g. “flap like a penguin”. The camera is then triggered via a radio signal by the brand ambassador, so the consumer always gets the perfect photo – especially as we developed a feature that would allow for the photo to be retaken.

The photos were taken using a green screen background, so guests could be transported to their own underwater world – just like all the animals they were about to visit– talk about immersive!

the result

We worked with Magic Moments to link these photos to a barcode that the guests were given when they entered the attraction. At the end of their underwater experience, the consumer was presented with their photos of the whole experience – featuring their extra special noonah green screen image!

This install has been running every day for a year and is still going strong – a real trooper and a testament to the quality of our work.

Sea Life love the install, and every guest that enters the attraction gets to take an extra special (sea) snap!
