Monki wanted their new store to open with a bang, cue noonah.

the brief

Brave, bold and brilliant – The fashion brand Monki is all about breaking the mould, and empowering young women to wear what they want. In the last few years, they have been growing quick. When they decided to open a store in Bristol, they wanted to make a big impact, and show everyone what they stood for.

Monki wanted to engage with their customers or “monki friends” at the opening of their new store and raise their brand awareness. When they asked us to get involved, we knew that we had to create something on trend, that would make a big impact on social media, and that their consumers would love.

the solution

The store looked incredible with amazing lighting and colourful designs – we knew that consumers wouldn’t be able to resist taking snaps of the funky, original décor, and so we decided to bring our Hashtag Stations.

Whilst waiting in the queue to purchase goods, consumers were encouraged to upload their stylish selfies to Instagram and Twitter using the hashtags #monkistyle and #Monkibristol. The fully branded hashtag stations then searched social media to find and images with this hashtag, which was then printed with a colourful, Monki branded border, and given to the consumer as a keepsake.

The images were designed to look like polaroid pictures, a trend which is making a huge comeback on social media. This polaroid design was in line with the quirky Monki brand – appealing to their consumers and encouraging them to take more pictures and share the hashtag further, increasing brand awareness.

Results

We knew it was going to be busy, but the amount of people wanting to upload their images to Instagram and Twitter and receive a branded print absolutely blew us away! Our noonah staff were working flat out to ensure that everyone was able to take away an awesome branded selfie to remember the event.

Two copies of every snap were made, one for a consumer keepsake and the other was hung in the store, creating a cool decoration and honouring the “Monki friends” who took part in the activation. Why not head to the Monki store in Bristol and check out the snaps that are still in store?

In addition to the cool prints, the event was amazing in getting the hashtags #Monkistyle and #Monkibristol trending and creating a buzz online.
